Sichae Saracen

Sichae Saracen, sometimes known as Chris Vorndran, is perhaps best known for his Apple Bobbing. Did you also know that he is the brains behind the Storm Giant race, or the Tattoo monster? Look at the credits for just about any game, and you will see his name listed. He recently agreed to answer a few questions...

  1. How did you become a NPC? What's the story behind your character?
Well, SaucyWench came to me looking to write a mod for Central, so I submitted my Apple Shop, the first module I ever wrote, and she converted it into a smaller special for the Esoterra event on the server. I had been an NPC on my server, beforehand, working out of the Apple Shop. Don't ask me the fascination with apples, because not even I know. :P
  2. How long have you played the game? How long have you created modules?
I've played the game for close to 2 years now, starting on a server of a known code thief. I thwarted his plans on several occasions, him asking people to ask 100+ people to join and he would make them admin. I stuck around, became Admin and was eventually fired, due to me talking back to him.

After I left that server, I joined Central Server and got to know the staff because I was a bit of a troublemaker and was always affiliated with Selekta, us being the terrible twosome. Eventually, SaucyWench showed me into the modding community and things haven't been the same since. I love going back and looking at my old posts... I was such a noob..

  3. How did your love of computers start?
My love with computers started when I had a an extra computer in the house and decided to take it apart, because the family didn't need it anymore. I've always loved logic and tracing each circuit with my finger, figuring things out, just made me feel at peace. So, about 4 years ago, I started earning money to buy a computer, then I bought the parrts 3 years ago. Put it all together, named it Integra and I've had her ever since. I had to replace her heart once (power supply) and will be doing it again soon, getting a new quiet power supply. :)
  4. Did you ever play the original game - Legend of the Red Dragon?
I tried playing LoRD once... it was a couple weeks ago, my first use of Telnet. It was enjoyable, but I don't think I like it as much as LotGD.
  5. What's your favorite part of the game? What's your favorite part of working with the game? Least favorite?
My favorite part would happen to be the satisfying slay of a Dragon or a Penguin (:P). Just reaching that pinacle is amazing and then you get to start all over again. Like a breath of fresh air.

My favorite part of working with the game, would have to be finishing a new script/module/function and just staring at it for a while, noting the beauty lurking between the lines, the flow of the tabs and logic. Yes, I am a nerd.

Least favorite part of the game, is dying, of course. Especially when I play my girlfriend's account... her character is bad and dies everytime I play it. I swear, I can't get her out of the EXP hole that it has dug itself.

  6. Do you actively play? Where?
I am an active participant and helper on Central, as well as the Head Admin on Kitsune Crossing, an RP server that I started a while ago.
  7. Where do you see this game in a year? Five years?
In a year, I see the game on new frontiers, finally getting closer to an Online PvP aspect, or multiple user fights. I still plan on being a part of that, because I just can't leave it that easily. LotGD has become a part of what makes me who I am and I will always be remember as the Apple Wench. :P
  8. Any advice for a player or module creator just starting out?
Have fun with it. Make mistakes, because the more you make, the more you learn and the more you learn, the more you earn... sorry, I was just looking for something to rhyme.
  9. How would you like future players of the game to know you?
In the future, I'd love to be known as the most affluent programmer for LotGD and I think I may actually be at that point, based on the comments of my friends and even people that I don't know. I was recently YOMed on Central and someone had said, "I have untold respect for you as a programmer and for all of your contributions to LotGD."
  10. Anything else you would like to add?
LotGD, in my book, will always be better than any MMO. Why? Because... it is free, fun and addictive.

Well, there you have it. Just a few moments with one of the hot module creators and players around today. Next time you play, stop and think of Sichae and Integra working as a smooth team to bring you those neat modules!
